Science: Thirsty Plants

Year 3 knew that plants need water to grow, but how plants 'drink' their water proved a bit of a mystery. 

So, we conducted an experiment to find out! We observed how water was absorbed by kitchen towel and then moved through the material. We then visited the school garden and dissected some plant stems to investigate the inside of a stem. We could actually see the xylem where water is 'pulled' from the roots to the leaves using different forces.
