We Are Soil Detectives!

Year 3 Jays and Wrens thoroughly enjoyed investigating what soil is made of in science this week. 

   

We learnt the four key elements that make up soil, as well as exploring other key aspects of soil. 

Next week, we will begin to plan making our own compost bins! We were very impressed that lots of the children already knew a lot about compost. 

We are going to need some organic matter (fruit and vegetable peelings, teabags, stale bread, cardboard boxes, pencil sharpenings). We'll be collecting worms at school but any of the above items will make the children's compost project hugely successful and enjoyable!
